🔧 WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU INSTALL

1

Install the App

Download and run the installer for your platform. The app is signed and verified—your OS may still warn you because we're new. That's normal for independent software.

2

Your Node Starts

The app runs a lightweight GrabNet node in the background. This connects you to the Rooted Revival distributed network using libp2p with Kademlia DHT and GossipSub.

3

Create Your Account

Your account is created locally and tied to your node. No email verification, no phone number, no data harvesting. Your identity lives on your machine.

4

Start Contributing

Browse the archive, upload your own content, or just let your node run to help distribute the network. Every node strengthens the archive.

❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED

Is this safe?

Yes. The app is open source—you can inspect every line of code. We don't collect data, don't have accounts on our servers, and don't track you.

What's a GrabNet node?

GrabNet is our peer-to-peer protocol built on libp2p. Your node stores and shares content-addressed data with other nodes using BLAKE3 hashes and Merkle trees, creating a distributed archive.

Will it slow my computer?

The node is lightweight and runs in the background. You can limit bandwidth and storage usage in settings. Most users don't notice it.

Why GrabNet instead of IPFS?

GrabNet is purpose-built for academic knowledge. It uses BLAKE3 hashing, Ed25519 signing, and a curated peer network—no spam, no malicious content, just verified scholarship.

Can I run it headless?

Yes. Advanced users can run just the node component on servers. Documentation coming soon.

Is there a mobile app?

Not yet. Mobile nodes are resource-intensive. We're exploring lightweight mobile options for browsing (not hosting).
